What is a "discount dental plan"?
A discount dental plan is an innovative alternative to traditional dental insurance. When you join a discount dental plan with DentalPlans.com, you will be entitled to discounted or reduced fees on dental services performed by a participating dentist. These discounted fees are generally 20-60% lower than the national average based on the most recent American Dental Association survey of fees.

How do I use my benefits?
Simply call and make an appointment with any participating dentist in your chosen plan's network, and mention the plan you have enrolled in. When you arrive at the dentist, simply present your membership card to ensure that you will be charged according to your chosen plan's discounted fee schedule. It's that easy!

Is this considered dental insurance?
No. Discount dental plans are not dental insurance. Discount dental plans are an alternative to traditional dental insurance, with many of the same benefits. However, discount dental plans generally offer better savings and fewer hassles and restrictions than traditional dental insurance.

Can this supplement other dental insurance I might have?
Yes. However, you must select a dentist that participates in your insurance program who is also a provider within your chosen plan's network. Participating dentists and their staff are familiar on how to coordinate benefits when utilizing both.

When does my discount dental plan activate?
Most of our discount dental plans activate within 72 hours of purchase. On each main plan page (available by clicking on "Plan Details"), you will see an "Activation Date" listed - this is the first day you can begin using your benefits if you purchase your plan today.

Is emergency activation available?
Yes. All plans can be activated immediately if you have a dental emergency. Emergency activation is only available directly through our customer service department Monday - Friday, between 8 am and 6 pm EST.

How do I know what my discounted fees or what my savings will be?
When you enroll in any discount plan, you are provided with a complete "fee schedule" in the DentalPlans.com Member's Area. The fee schedule provides you with specific dollar amounts you can expect pay for each procedure when visiting a participating dentist. This fee schedule can be thought of as a "menu" of sorts - you will know beforehand exactly what your costs will be before having any dental work performed.

Does DentalPlans.com have sample fee schedules I can view?
Yes. Sample fee schedules can be found for any plan we offer - just click on any of the logos to the left to view a sample for that plan. The sample fee schedule lists a number of common procedures and their discounted fees.

Are there dentists in my area?
Yes! Dentists and plans are available in nearly every corner of the United States. Chose from over 70,000 combined dentists across America.

Are procedures performed by dental specialists covered?
Yes. Procedures performed by a dental specialist (like a periodontist, orthodontist, endodontist, etc) are covered under all discount dental plans. Generally, the discount on specialist's fees is 20-25% off their usual and customary fees.
